“Recognizing and Responding to Emotional Abuse and Neglect”
Date: March 4, 2010 at 9:00 am - March 4, 2010 at 4:00 pm
Location: Community Facility
Details: Emotional abuse and neglect are at the core of all types of child maltreatment, and have the most harmful effects on the physical and psychological development and well-being of children. Emotional maltreatment will be differentiated from physical abuse and neglect in both identification and response. An important focus will be understanding parents’ behavior because, when professionals cannot take parents’ perspectives, then they are forced into rescue-and-punish operations that both increase the rigidity of parents and harm children. Case examples will be used throughout the training that focus on different age levels. Several scales and guides to case planning will be offered.
Audience: Open to All
Facilitator: Dr. Patricia Crittenden
