No longer a mystery -- Le Bal Masque is a hit

The guests were masked, but their intentions were no mystery: Nearly 100 people attended Le Bal Masque Oct. 28 to show support for UFF's mission to help end the cycle of child abuse.

The event, a formal masquarade held at PGA Country Club, was the agency's fundraising debut and raised more than $17,000 for the agency.

Many friends of the child-welfare community attended, including Rep. Gayle B. Harrell, Judges Burton Conner and Robert Pegg, Toyota of Stuart owner John Pierson and Children's Services Council of St. Lucie County Executive Director Katherine Basile.

Le Bal Masque was the first of many fundraisers planned for the coming months and is part of UFF's efforts to stabilize the local system through innovative new programs and initiatives.

The next event, Teeing Off Fore Kids Golf Tournament, is tentatively scheduled for Feb. 10 at Martin Downs Country Club, in Palm City.

Riverside National Bank volunteered to help UFF with its silent auction, which raised nearly $5,000.

John Pierson was a popular guest throughout the evening. Pierson is known locally as much for his philanthropy as for his business.
