Key Sale begins for United for Families fundraiser -- get your key now

If it glitters, it’s gold – and white diamonds, and cinnamon diamonds and pear cinnamon citrine.

That’s what awaits the lucky key holder in the Diamonds by Terry 2009 Key Sale, which will benefit United for Families and its Road to Success program.

The prize for this unique event is a one-of-a-kind gold, diamond and citrine necklace appraised at $8,500 and custom-designed by master jeweler Terry Rieger. Rieger, owner of Diamonds by Terry, designed the piece for United for Families’ October 24 gala – the Toyota of Stuart Le Bal Masque.

Keys may be purchased from Diamonds by Terry or United for Families for a $50 donation, or three keys for $125. Only one key will unlock the necklace.

The winning key will be revealed at the gala. Participants don’t have to be present to win. Those interested in reserving seats, however, can do so online at unitedforfamilies.org.

The necklace can be previewed at Diamonds by Terry, at 3868 SE Dixie Hwy., Stuart. Keys are also available from now through October 24. Call 398-2920 Ext. 298 for more information, or visit www.unitedforfamilies.org.

Jeandel Georges, United for Families Placement Supervisor, signs in during the recent community training on forensics interviewing. The training is part of a series of quarterly workshops designed to bolster the quality of local case management.

Sherina Johnson, a dependency case manager in St. Lucie County, was named the Case Manager of the Quarter during the training.

More than 200 people attended the training. The audience was composed of child-welfare and legal professionals from throughout the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee.

Chris Paganelli was one of the many people who attended the training. Here, he playfully hides from the camera.

Karin Torsiello and Angelique Walsh, both from the Secrets of Modern Parenting, pause for a picture together. Torsiello will be the presenter at the next United for Families training.

The registration table stayed busy most of the morning, as this was one of the more popular trainings.

The auction, which also includes works of art by the Florida Highwaymen and trips to exotic destinations, like Hawaii, the Bahamas and Cancun, is United for Families’ first foray into the cyber world of online auctioning.

Bidding will close online October 22 and then re-open October 24 during an on-site silent auction at the Fourth Annual Toyota of Stuart Le Bal Masque, at Willoughby Golf Club. Participation is simple. Those interested should log into www.cmarket.com then search available auctions by state. Click on the United for Families link, or find a direct link from the Le Bal Masque website at www.unitedforfamilies.org.
